A man buys 5 dozen eggs at 36 per dozen. Out of which 5% got broken. He sold the remaining eggs for ₹ 48 per dozen. What was his total gain.(7th class math)

Solution:Given 5 dozen eggs = 36 per dozen

                          Broken eggs = 5%

                Sell remain eggs = 48 Rs.

According to question,

             1 dozen eggs = 36 Rs.

         5 x 12 --- 60 eggs = 36 x 5= 180 Rs.

then,Broken eggs = 60 eggs X 5 %

                             = 60 x 5/100

                             = 3 eggs broken

Remaining eggs = total eggs - broken eggs

                           = 60 - 3

                           = 57 eggs

given question the remaining eggs for 48 Rs. per dozen.

then, 12 eggs = 48 Rs.

         57 eggs = 48/12 x 57

                      = 228 Rs.

Total gain = Rs of 57 eggs - Rs of 60 eggs

                 = 228 Rs. - 180 Rs.

                 = 48 Rs.

Therefore,total gain Rs.48.
